General objective
Increasing the degree of protection and conservation of the biodiversity in the Ciomad-Balvanyos site by implementing management measures from the Management Plan.
Specific objectives of the project
1. Implementarea unor măsuri active de conservare în situl Natura 2000 Ciomad-Balvanyos, the monitoring of species and habitats.
2. Development of an adequate visiting infrastructure in the Ciomad-Balvanyos Natura 2000 site
3. Increasing the level of acceptance of the Ciomad-Balvanyos protected area, through awareness and information activities for stakeholders, in favor of biodiversity conservation
4. Increasing the institutional capacity of the custodian
Activities envisaged to achieve the objectives:
Activity B.1. Implementation of active conservation measures in the Ciomad-Balvanyos Natura 2000 site
The selected active conservation measures from the Management Plan are the most current and important in order to maintain the favorable conservation status of the protected area. Each sub-activity has identified results and achievement indicators.
Activity B.2. Monitoring of species and habitats of community importance in the Ciomad-Balvanyos site
Sums up the monitoring of all the species and habitats of community interest from the standard sheet of the protected area. The sub-activities will result in monitoring reports, respectively performance indicators.
Activity B.3. Realization of some elements of the visiting infrastructure in the Ciomad-Balvanyos site
It is composed of 2 sub-activities, which focu on the development of the protected area. These sub-activities will directly result in the arrangement of tourist routes and rest areas on the site.
Activity B.4. Information and awareness activities for target groups
It is composed of sub-activities, through which ecological education programs will be elaborated and organized in the schools and kindergartens from the localities neighboring the site, the Mount Puturosu Day will be organized, information activities will be held for stakeholders and the general public, a documentary film will be made about the site, and there will be presentations of the protected area and the project. The activities will have well-defined results, as well as performance indicators.
Activitaty B.5. Training and capacity building activities for the management team of the Ciomad-Balvanyos site.
It is made up of of several sub-activities, which will help to strengthen the custodian’s capacity, in order to ensure optimal management for the protected area. Thus, the members of the custody team will participate in training courses, will obtain field equipment and IT for the office.
Activitaty B.6. Project Management Activities
It consists of project management and auditing and will result in a successfully implemented project and 2 prepared audit reports.
