Objectives and activities

General objective:

To ensure adequate protection of the Ciomad-Balvanyos site in order to conserve habitats, species of flora and fauna of Community importance.

Specific objectives:

  1. Implementation of the management plan of the Ciomad-Balvanyos Natura 2000 site and monitoring of the species and habitats in the site.
  2. Improving the degree of information and awareness of locals as well as stakeholders and the general public, continuous development of environmental education of students in the localities around the site.
  3. Increasing the capacity of the Ciomad-Balvanyos Custody for the management of the Ciomad-Balvanyos site.

 E.1 Increasing students’ awareness of the sustainable management of the Ciomad-Balvanyos site;
 E.1.1 Organizing ecological education activities for students from schools adjacent to the site
 E.1.2 Thematic field visits for schoolchildren
 E.2 Update information panels
 E.3 Location of 3 soft-touch-screens in the site with the presentation of the information about the Ciomad-Balvanyos protected area;
 E.4 Make short films about species and habitats
 E.5 Meeting to facilitate the implementation of the recommendations from the management plans and the project;
 E.6 Information meeting to disseminate the results and experiences gained;

F. Development of the institutional capacity of the custodian of the protected area
